![]() ![]() The first time I was in the park and leaving I noticed a LOT of open parking spots but the gates were closed. If the park were really full, fair enough (I understand more people are visiting) … but, the issue I have is that the park isn’t full when they are turning people away. From what I can see they are closing the parking every nice weekend now. I have been turned away twice recently and I have been in the park three times when they closed parking so I was leaving with the entry gates closed. ![]() This year is the first time I have seen this – it seems to be something new. Somehow they seem really annoyed that people are expecting to get into the state park that their tax dollars help fund. And even if you do talk to someone, my experience is that they won’t be friendly or helpful – they will just tell you to keep driving/leave. In many cases you won’t even get to see or talk to a ranger as they like to just close the gates to the parking lot at the street which is now lined with signs that read something to the effect of ‘Park full, no stopping, come back later’. Basically, if you try to visit the park on a nice weekend, if you arrive after around 10am you should plan for the chance that a ranger will tell you the parking is full and then send you away. Recently though the way that the rangers are managing access/parking is disgraceful. I love the park itself, great hiking and climbing. I have been visiting Crowders for over 20 years. ![]()
